As the year winds down, let’s take a look at one of the DC area zip codes with the biggest home price increases in 2024.
As UrbanTurf begins to wrap up its annual look at the neighborhood housing markets around the DC region, we head over to one of the zip codes that saw home prices rise the most in 2024.
With Connecticut Avenue as its spine, 20008 is home to portions of the Forest Hills, Van Ness, Cleveland Park, Woodley Park and Kalorama neighborhoods. The zip code is home to a high volume of smaller condos and co-ops as well as some of the city's more expensive homes.
Median home prices in the area rose about 20%, thanks to a high volume of $2 million to $5 million sales selling at a premium, and condo and co-op prices rising nominally. The 20% price increase comes even as almost 300 homes will sell in the zip code by the end of the year.
Below UrbanTurf plucked out a few interesting stats about the market in 20008.
$605,000 -- The median home price in 20008 this year, up 19%.
$3.2 million -- The average sales price for a detached home in 20008 in 2024, up 7% year-over-year.
3.15 -- The monthly supply of homes for sale in 20008.
50% -- The percentage of homes sold that sold in 10 days or less.
